Jen Francis

Jennifer A. Francis, Ph.D., is a Senior Scientist at the Woodwell Climate Research Center. Dr. Francis’s research focuses on the rapidly changing Arctic and how disproportionate Arctic warming is affecting temperate regions on Earth. Dr. Francis has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and testified before the U.S. Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Security, the U.S. House of Representatives Science Committee, and the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works. Dr. Francis holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington and was a Professor in the Department of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers University for 24 years. In 2020, Dr. Francis received the American Geophysical Union’s Climate Science Communication Prize.
