Republishing guidelines
At Probable Futures, we make climate science accessible for everyone, everywhere. We publish our climate literacy resources under a Creative Commons license. You can republish the text of any of our articles online and in print, provided you follow our guidelines. Please note that photos are not included in this license, but graphics created by Probable Futures are.

For print and online
Retain the original text in full. Editing the text requires author approval prior to republication. Contact the author by reaching out to hello@probablefutures.org.
Attribute authors in the byline.
Credit Probable Futures and include a link to the original article. Our preferred format is a byline and credit at the top of the article along with our logo, available below. For example, the credit must include the following, at a minimum: “Originally published by Probable Futures. Written by Firstname Lastname.”
Credit Probable Futures as the canonical publisher. Please add the canonical link to your page’s <head> on each article that you republish. This link is included in every article for your convenience. An example is shown here: <link rel=”canonical” href=”https://probablefutures.org/article-slug”>
Use our page view counter when republishing online. The page view counter is a 1 pixel by 1 pixel invisible image that allows us to know when and where our content is republished. If you use the “republish” button, you will automatically include our page counter.
Maintain free access. Do not put our articles on pages behind a paywall or charge for them in any setting.
Confirm licensing for any photos in our articles. Some images, such as those licensed from certain commercial providers, cannot be republished without permission or payment, but others are licensed for free public use. Contact us at hello@probablefutures.org to inquire about the licensing requirements for specific images. Graphics created by Probable Futures are covered under our Creative Commons license and do not require explicit permission.
Special cases
- You may use unedited excerpts of the article alongside text reading: “Read the full article by Probable Futures” with a link to the original article URL.
- You may quote full sentences provided you include a link back to the article URL.
- Translating an article into a language not available on our website translation tool requires author approval.
- Signed consent or copyright release forms are not required, provided you follow our republishing guidelines.
- Articles can be published in print under these guidelines, but do not need to include links. Please notify us of any article republications in print.
